Structure Calculations in Nd III and U III Relevant for Kilonovae Modelling

The detection of gravitational waves and electromagnetic signals from the neutron star merger GW170817 has provided evidence that these astrophysical events are sites where r-process nucleosynthesis operates. signal, commonly known as kilonova, is powered by radioactive decay freshly synthesized nuclei. However, its luminosity, colour spectra depend on atomic opacities produced elements. In particular, lanthanides actinides elements, due to their large density bound–bound transitions, fundamental. current work focuses structure calculations for lanthanide actinide ions, which important in kilonovae modelling ejecta spectra. Calculations Nd III U III, two representative rare-earth were achieved. Our aim provide valuable insights future opacity all heavy We noticed about an order magnitude greater than a higher levels case actinide.
